Solar protection - external shields

« Back to blog

Hot topics on our blog in June. And it is literally. Finally, it has turned hot and we can fully enjoy the beautiful weather. However, it should not be forgotten to effectively protect the house, balcony / terrace and garden against heating. This will allow you to enjoy sunny days, and at the same time provide yourself with a comfortable shade and a place where you can take a break from the sun.

External window covers are primarily used for effective sun protection, but also have aesthetic functions. There are several types of products in this category, and they can be divided into covers for vertical windows and those that are installed above the terrace / balcony or in the garden.

Protection of the interior of the house from heating

It is not without reason that external covers are considered the most effective in protecting the interior of the house from heating. Here you will find products intended for vertical windows, i.e. external roller blinds and screen roller blinds as well as facade blinds. The effectiveness of this type of covers is based on the fact that they create a barrier to sunlight in front of the window pane. Thanks to this, the rays do not touch the glass, which remains cool. It is assumed that 80% of windows are responsible for heating the interior.

The barrier of the lowered blind or roller shutter will prevent sunlight and heating the interior, but not only. UV rays also cause walls and furniture upholstery to fade. The armor of a classic external roller shutter can also constitute an anti-burglary barrier and suppress noise coming from the outside. On the other hand, the screen type roller blind is made of a special mesh which protects against the sun by not completely obscuring the interior, and additionally providing protection against insects. Facade blinds, on the other hand, work in the same way as classic internal blinds - the horizontal slats can be set at any angle of inclination and thus the amount of light entering inside can be adjusted.

Shade on the terrace and in the garden

Recently, awnings and pergolas have become more and more popular. And no wonder. They create a shade over the terrace / balcony or in the garden, and at the same time are very decorative. Awnings are products that protect the balcony (balcony awnings) or the terrace (patio awnings); the unfolded awning fabric will create a shaded space where you can shelter from the heat.

On the other hand, the pergola can cover the terrace (wall-mounted pergola) or a selected place in the garden (free-standing pergola). Pergolas are equipped with feathers that can be set at different angles or a material that, when stretched, gives a shadow. All pergolas have built-in LED lighting. Before installation, it may be necessary to properly prepare the substrate, so it is worth relying on the help of a professional company.

A new feature is the Veranda awning. It is a product that protects against the sun - glazed conservatories, skylights and translucent roofs. In summer, the glass wings of the winter garden are often extended, but it is always worth covering to reduce its heating. Even the winter sun can warm up a winter garden room, so the Veranda awning is an all-year product.

External covers are produced in a variety of colors. They are matched to the color of the building facade so that the whole can be aesthetically composed. Therefore, apart from effective sun protection, they are very decorative products and you do not have to worry that after installing them, the aesthetics of the house or garden will be disturbed.
