But the long-awaited sun has finally come and... we start complaining - it's too hot, too stuffy, it dazzles, there are the mosquitoes, and so on and so on.
And we do not like to complain. We do not like to do it and we know that this problem can be solved easily.

External or internal roller blinds - what to choose?

The first question that we ask ourselves when we make the decision on what type of window cover to choose is - do I take the external or internal roller blinds?
Let's put the aesthetic aspect aside here - these are dealt with in topics related to particular solutions for protecting interiors from the sun. How about focusing on functionality?

When it comes to that, what we choose depends first of all on the result we'd like to achieve by using the window covers. The first thought - protection from sun; additional question - only from the light or also from the heat? In most of the cases the answer is both.

Contrary to what might be expected, this answer is not at all obvious. Apartments/houses/companies' seats surrounded by greenery providing natural shadow won't need big protection from excessive heat. Here, solutions in a form of internal roller blinds will be definitely enough - night and day roller blinds, wooden shutters, verticals, fabric rollers, mosquito nets, pleated roller blinds, photo-covered roller blinds, Roman blinds. There are plenty of solutions in this case, as you can see. You can choose based on the room's function, style of interior design or its colour (feel free to read the thematic posts).

But when you'd like to protect the room not only from excessive sunlight but also from excessive heat, you should consider installation of external roller blinds. In majority of interiors we deal mainly with such a problem during hot summer months. Bearing it in mind that you spend about 90% of your time inside, you should take care of you comfort, both at work and at home.

The assortment of external covers consists mainly in external roller blinds and vertical awnings (screens). The latter deserve special attention as they're a state-of-the-art solution when it comes to window covers, allowing to control the access of both light and heat. They're made of special fabric that is capable of stopping 80% of solar power. Thus their alternative name: a thermal screen. In case of external covers, apart from obvious protection from light, we stress such aspects as:

• the above-mentioned protection from excessive heat in rooms - here a definite plus for vertical awnings (screens), they're better in it than external roller blinds.
• visibility - again, a plus for vertical awnings (screens) as they don't limit the sight-line and they ensure supply of natural light allowing to use the room freely, without a need to turn additional artificial lights on.
• burglary protection - here only the external roller blinds are of use,
• sound insulation - a plus for external roller blinds.

Installation solutions - internal and external roller blinds

The basic difference results obviously from the product's character - external and internal roller blinds. In case of the internal blinds (regarding the type of the blind), we install them on the wall, ceiling or in a window frame. Regardless the type you choose, the installation is simple. In turn, in case of external covers, the vertical awnings are fixed to windows (from PCV, aluminium or wood), and the internal roller blinds inside a window opening or on the façade.

You should also remember about two certain aspects.
