Discovering America in Interior Design

In recent years, the Scandinavian style has ruled the interior design land unquestionably.
Space, minimalism, bright colours, natural materials - this is what we like it for first of all.
Recently, however, a competitor appeared that is attracting more and more supporters, namely
the American style. This is something for fans of more accessories, bibelotes, sophisticated
shapes and details.
The American style is not uniform; we have New York, Aspen, Hampton and American
glamour. However, we also have some common features, which make up what is most
characteristic for interiors decorated in the American style.

American interior design, meaning symmetry, space and luxury.

The American style interior design is close to our hearts in some sense because we can
often see it on cinema or television screens, in films or TV series. Its elegance and
timelessness are the two most captivating features. Additionally, a passion for bright colours,
space and symmetry. Symmetrically arranged furniture and accessories allow for the effect of
harmony and peace.
Here, the space is based on the principle of creating openness, e.g. combining a living
room, dining room and a kitchen. What is more, the interiors are optically enlarged by using
neutral colours (grey, beige and taupe, i.e. grey beige) that are a must for this style. We also
deal with more textile decorations and accessories than in the Scandinavian style that has
already been mentioned. The accessories are mainly upholstered furniture, fluffy carpets, rugs
and pillows, which make the rooms cosy. While the materials used here are of high quality,
which is why this style is often associated with luxury. We also have wood here: floors with
wide boards, classic doors and windows. Mirrors, paintings and accessories, such as vases
with fresh flowers or bibelots, complete the whole interior. All of these features make these
interior full of warmth, despite the space.

Windows in American interior design

The American style means space that perfectly fits the current trend for large windows.
The interior colours are bright, and the windows must be in full harmony. In the American
style, windows are often decorated with curtains, but they are not mandatory. We can
successfully replace them with fabric roller blinds, Roman blinds or pleated blinds. However,
we need to keep this in mind that this style makes use of bright colours first of all, so they
must be present in the windows.
